There are three separate downloadable resources available which are:

Tennis Teacher Resource
Tennis PowerPoint Resource
Tennis Student Resource

All resources compliment each other and for best use we suggest you use all resources in conjunction with each other during delivery of the module to your class/audience.

Tennis Teacher Resource

The teacher resource for tennis is a document with facts, key points and slide descriptions, which can be used as a basis of a script, created to aid the delivery of the chemistry of tennis module. The teacher resource is best delivered in conjunction with the PowerPoint resource (presentation), also downloadable from the site. A downloadable student resource worksheet supplements the module and can be used as a student handout. The resources are suitable for use to aid science teaching for 14 -16 year olds and introduce the topics of hard and soft water, soap, detergent and conclude with a brief look at the visible spectrum. The teacher resource examines in depth the chemistry behind what makes water hard or soft, how this affects the cleaning ability of soap and detergent. The module explores the structure and function of soap and detergent and is related back to tennis through keeping the tennis kit the brilliant white we associate with the game.

Tennis PowerPoint Resource

The PowerPoint resource for tennis is a presentation designed for teachers to use as a visual tool when using the teacher resource. The presentation looks briefly at the history of tennis and then looks more closely at some of the chemistry behind hard and soft water, soap, detergent and the visible spectrum. The presentation is visual with pictures as well as bulleted key points and diagrams. The student resource questions have been added to the presentation along with the answers on new slides to allow the answering of the questions to take place in a group situation or to be used for group revision purposes.

Tennis Student Resource

The student resource for tennis is a three page document consisting of questions, diagrams, pictures and information covering the subject. The first two pages are designed to be used mid module to aid learning and the final revision sheet is to be used at the end of the module to help students recap on the material covered and aid teachers to check that learning has taken place. The questions can be used during delivery of the PowerPoint presentation if preferred or as a plenary or homework exercise. The student resource questions cover hard and soft water, soap and detergent.

About the Event : French Open 2008
The French open began as a national tournament in 1891 and it was in 1925 that it turned into an international tournament being alternatively held at the Racing Club de France and the Stade Français ever since.

About Tennis
This sport can either be played by two people (singles) or four people (doubles).  Each player uses a strung racquet to propel a small hollow ball over a net into their opponents court, the ball is not allowed to bounce more than once before it is returned.  If it bounces more than once, goes outside of the marked area or does not go over the net the opponent receives the points.
