 | There are three separate downloadable resources available which are: Shooting Teacher Resource Shooting PowerPoint Resource Shooting Student Resource All resources compliment each other and for best use we suggest you use all resources in conjunction with each other during delivery of the module to your class/audience. Shooting Teacher Resource The teacher resource for shooting is a document with facts, key points and slide descriptions, which can be used as a basis of a script, created to aid the delivery of the shooting – exothermic reactions and the fire triangle resource. The teacher resource is best delivered in conjunction with the PowerPoint resource (presentation), also downloadable from the site. A downloadable student resource worksheet supplements the module and can be used as a student handout. The resources are suitable for use to aid chemistry teaching for 14 -16 year olds and introduce the subject of enthalpy change by exploring exothermic and endothermic reactions. The example of gunpowder is used to explore exothermic reactions and the three fundamental elements needed for combustion reactions to take place. Towards the end of the module particular emphasis is placed on using bond energies to calculate enthalpy change to establish if reactions are exothermic or endothermic. Shooting PowerPoint Resource The PowerPoint resource for shooting is a presentation designed for teachers to use as a visual tool when using the teacher resource. The presentation looks briefly at the sport of shooting and then looks more closely at gunpowder and its composition, using the combustion of gunpowder to introduce the topics of combustion reactions followed by exothermic and endothermic reactions and enthalpy change. The presentation is visual with pictures as well as bulleted key points and notes. The student resource questions have been added to the presentation along with the answers to allow the answering of the questions to take place in a group situation or to be used for group revision purposes. Shooting Student Resource The student resource for shooting is a single page document consisting of questions, pictures and information covering the subject of exothermic and endothermic reactions and enthalpy change. The sheet is designed to be used at the end of the module to help students recap on the material covered and aid teachers to check that learning has taken place. The questions can be used during delivery of the PowerPoint presentation if preferred or as a plenary or homework exercise.

| About Shooting |
| The shooting sports include those competitive sports involving tests of proficiency (accuracy and speed) using various types of guns such as firearms, which use an explosion to propel a bullet and airguns which use spring or pressure loaded mechanisms to propel a bullet. The shooting sports are categorized by the type of firearm or target used. Targets can be stationary or moving and at a variety of distances depending on the specific category of the sport. |
