Swimmers countdown to Beijing
11.04.08
single dive
The European Championships was a place where swimmers were hotly contesting places for spots at the Olympics.  The Olympic Games uses a long course which makes swimmers race in a 50m pool.  In comparison a short course uses a 25m pool where the emphasis is on turning rather than just straight line speed.  The World Short Course Championships takes place from the 9th to the 13th of April.  This will be a fantastic event to watch and see how our swimmers are preparing for the Summer Olympic Games.

Other than just watching, have you ever wondered why swimmers swim in water that has chlorine in it, or even pondered over what some of the swimming suits are made out of.  Chemistry and Sport swimming module answers these questions and makes you think about the links of sport down to a molecular level.
