| The tennis season will be in full swing in May, the French open will soon be upon us. Chemistry and Sport has released a module downloadable from the website, linking tennis to chemistry. So if you have ever thought 'how are those tennis kits kept whiter than white and why do detergents have such close links to tennis? Then this module helps you to explore and understand some key concepts behind, hard and soft water, detergents and introduce the visible spectrum. The module is aimed at 14 - 16 year olds and firstly explores the history of tennis. For example, it was the invention of vulcanized rubber which allowed tennis to develop from an indoor sport ''court tennis' to the sport played on grass courts outside.
